Hitachi Develops New HDTV Technology

Japan-based Hitachi has developed a new technology based on the next generation network developed by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone, known as GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network). This new technology features an optical splitter, allowing 100 HDTV (High Definition Television) TV programs to be delivered at the same time, and a unique receiver, to be placed at home and may be further embedded in the company's FDP (Flat Display Panel) TVs and PCs. This new technology is expected to be launched within next two to three years.
